Today was Kids Day in the Precario, the neighborhood where I work. We left early in the morning, a few of the volunteers and the youth group from the church, and went to a field near the neighborhood to celebrate kids day. The kids were BEYOND excited to have the chance to run around on their different teams, competeing and learning Bible verses and how we can put them to use in OUR lives. They learned a lot about God and His love for even the smallest of people...It was great exercise too... My team was the FUEGO BLANCO..the white fire, because our ribbons were white, and I must say we were FEARLESS...for the most part...until they got out the water ballons. After a day of crawling all over the ground, piggie back central, and running after children, we ate lunch and said goodbye. I, being the responsible person in charge of children, forgot sun screen and am currently burnt to a crisp. I have the best farmers tan in Costa Rica, and if anyone wants to fight for the title, bring it on...No contest..
Last night was a great cultural experience. The country shut down to watch the Mexico vs. Costa Rica soccer game. It reminded me of the Super Bowl, to give you a comparison. I was so conflicted because I have such a love for Mexico and have great friends there....but alas, I do live in Costa Rica, was surrounded by Costa Ricans, and was afraid they wouldnt let me eat if I was on Mexicos side...so I choose to keep my opinion to myself. It was a good choice, because the food was awesome and Mexico won...I watched it at a friends house, my assigned Costa Rican family...Theyre very nice.
Thats about it for now. Im going to go get my aloe on...ouch.
Please pray I would find a car next week or figure out how to take the bus. Thanks!
