funny times, inappropriate comments.

Yesterday, we had a great meeting in the precario with our women's Bible study. We had 3 new ladies come, all of which are seekers; they're not in a church and desire to return but are not sure about all of this Jesus stuff...

We had a great day, but it was super humbling. Before the day started, I was walking around speaking to the women to motive them to come to the group/reminding them as well. Suddenly, I heard my car alarm go off. Unfortunately, the kids in the precario think it's funny to hit my car until the alarm sounds. We've named my car Stephen, like the first Christian martyr who was stoned to death in the Bible. Stephen has to sacrifice his body every time we go to the precario because you never know what the kids will do. Anyway, I turned to reprimand the kids and tell them they can't do that to someone else's property, when I slipped and fell. It's not a pleasant experience to slip and fall in the precario because the dirt is full of...well, just about everything...yum...

After that I was in one ladies houses, greeting the women when my language barrier bit me in the behind. One of the ladies who's part of our group always comes in beautiful skirts. I wanted to compliment her on her skirt which in Spanish is "enagua". Unfortunately, another word "nalga" which means "butt cheek" sounds simliar. Unfortunately, I said to her, "What beautiful butt cheeks you are always wearing!" She gave me a funny look. I knew immediately what I had said and corrected myself, but I'm hoping she'll return to our group and doesn't think I hit on her! ha!

Ah, the humility of being a missionary speaking another language! God help us all...
