Where to begin!!?!
I'll try to cover everything, but SO MUCH has happened this week and it hasn't even been a whole week yet. First of all, thank you all SO MUCH for your prayers. I've never felt so covered in prayer in my life, and I can literally feel it.
I'll just have to put them detail by detail, in no specific order...
1.) From the moment I got here, I've felt completely at home. Everyone has been so welcoming and good to me. I love Costa Rica!
2.) Things I'm getting used to:
only having hot water when the water pressure is low
giant bugs that come and go out the window
lotsa ants (we keep the cereal in the fridge)
flushing the toilet multiple times to make things go down
not flushing the toilet paper
washing the dishes
no ac (we don't need it, it's even been cool!!)
the language barrier (I accidentally told someone that someone DIED se murio instead of moved se mudo to another house! haha)
remembering lotsa names (sooooooo hard for me!)
kissing people on the cheek to greet them (all strangers included, which is everyone, I guess)
having to say hi and bye to everyone in the room
learning the dangers and getting street smart
learning the typical food like gallo pinto and agua dulce YUMMY!
3.) Joined the gym the other day and DROVE there! I'm learning my way! poco a poco (little by little) Trying not to hit giant holes and dogs
4.) This week, I bought a bed, a matress and a matress...pictures of my house included on this post! (the trees are coffee plants!)
5.) I got a cell phone and have been trying to navigate Spanish texting and understanding Spanish on the cell!
6.) I've been working on one new word a day!
7.) We went to a movie the other day and it was in English...a great break from constant Spanish
The other day, we went to feed the homeless in the Red Light District and it went great! I learned a lot about life in the streets. One girl was telling me about a conversation with someone newly to the streets...She said some people stay in the streets for 20 years! Can you imagine!?! We meet a man named Alfredo who lives in the streets and dedicated his life to Christ last time they were there...He wants to come to church soon...Pray for Alfredo as his life changes!
That's all the time I have today...My updates are infrequent because I don't have internet yet at the house! Pura Vida!!
