I'm a superly hyperactive person when it comes to getting things done. I have no patience to wait for a time; I want everything to be done yesterday. Surely you know no one like that ;) Anyway, it's helpful to have this personality at times although it can also be a curse! Lately, my mind has been spinning. I have a lot of things coming up: a couple of trips here around Costa Rica that I need to take, the big Mother's Day party in August, a friend is coming as well, a leadership Bible Study we're starting, the women's group, discipling ladies, renewing my visa etc. etc. etc. etc! The Father is so good to me when I get like this in my crazy schedule and my mind begins to buzz. "Stop," He says, only once and softly. I say this from experience because it happens often. Today, I chose to obey that voice. Most of the time my refuge is a hammock I hang outside of our house. It's big and deep and makes me feel as if I'm curled up in the Father's hands and that He understands my deepest thought and cares more than anyone else in the world. This morning I listened to a song by Bethany Dillon and meditated on the words,
The orphan clings to Your hand
Singing the song of how he was found
The widow rejoices
For her oppressors are silenced now
You sit at the table with the wounded and the poor
You laugh and share stories with the thief and the whore
When You could just be silent and leave us here to die
Still, You sent Your Son for us
You are on our side
The runaway falls at Your feet
You are what he has searched for
The rich man is broken
When he stands beneath a sky full of stars
You sit at the table with the wounded and the poor
You laugh and share stories with the thief and the whore
When You could just be silent and leave us here to die
Still, You sent Your Son for us
You are on our side
I'm grateful to find myself in the arms of a loving Savior. My plead to Christ today was teach me to love well. How do I love like Christ? How do I love in general? How how how?!?! And as often happened, I was left with one image...
Wash their feet.
Now, it's my job to take what He has told me and study what that means. Please pray for me as I learn how to love. Pray for August 6th, our Mother's Day party, August 14th when I will be speaking at a women's retreat, and July 29th when we will start a Leadership Bible Study...(I'll explain more about these later!)
