Today, God changed our plans. We were going to head to the Precario neighborhood but decided it was better to go to the local coffee shop to talk and plan for these upcoming weeks. As we sipped coffee and discussed, who shows up!? Angelo, one of the little boys from the Precario neighborhood. He was excited to see our faces! He was headed down from his neighborhood to sell plates. In order to help his family, he walks down to the town to sell plates and bowls. He's 10 years old and such a little character. We sat him down so he could chat with him and buy him a treat. He lives in the Precario with his mom. His sister is 18 and has already moved out of the house. We asked him what he wants to be when he grows up. His response: a police officer, so he can find his dad and put him in jail. He's one of those little boys with no filters: the way he feels, is the way he speaks. He speaks with honesty, but it breaks your heart! As Jesus did throughout his life on earth, we taught him in an ordinary situation with ordinary things about his Father in Heaven. We taught that life with Christ is sweeter than CHOCOLATE. His eyes got big: I don't think he believed me hahaha. It's neat how God works. That He brought the Precario to us so that we could bless Angelo.
