Tuesday we the first day that I wanted to give up on the Precario.
When we arrived in the neighborhood, it was POURING down rain. It's an unpleasant experience because even if you have an umbrella, your shoes and the bottom of your pants get soaked and muddy. I tried to hold onto my umbrella while holding a two liter bottle of tea and a plate of snacks. I still don't know how I didn't tumble down the hill...
Before heading to the Bible Study, we always like to visit a few houses to encourage the ladies to come. EVERY home I knocked at NO ONE responded. No one's going to show up, I thought. I'm soaked and dirty with a lesson planned and a snack (which is STILL heavy) for NO ONE. Great. I continued down the hill and ONE DOOR OPENED! Hooray, I thought, one lady will come! It's all worth it!! As the door opened, the children told me that their mom was sick and couldn't come. Wonderful....
We had the Bible Study in one of the new ladies homes. Her house is extremely hard to get to and to reach it you have to hike through mudd and grass full of trash and well...you can use your imagination. We arrived with one lady awaiting us.
But as we waited, ladies FINALLY began to show up. 2 at first...then 2 more...then 1...then more...I was astonished. These ladies are FAITHFUL to show up. They are FAITHFUL to learn and grow.
Although throughout the day, more disappointments and obstacles were thrown our way, it's encouraging to know that God IS working! It's still a good reminder that the things we do in this life, we do for GOD not for Bible Studies.
