Below, I have translated my favorite song in Spanish...please take 1 minute to meditate on the words.
When I think of your love and of your faithfulness
I can do nothing more than kneel and adore.
When I think of how I have been, where you have taken me
I am astonished by You.
I don't want to conform,
I have tried and I want more. I want to fall in love with You more.
Teach me to love you and live
Form me to your justice and your truth,
With my life I want to adore
With all that I have and all that I am,
All that I have been I give it to you,
That my life would be for you, like perfume at your feet
When I think of your cross and in all that you have done
Your blood for me, to take away my sins
When I think of your hand, that here we've arrived
We've arrived by your faithfulness...
Being a missionary is such a wild ride. I feel like you have more extreme emotions than the rest of the world. You live in another culture, often speaking another language all day, so your emotions often are on a roller coaster. When times are good they're SO GREAT, but when they're bad, they're sooo bad. This song helps me remember on the bad days that it's not that bad.
He's God. He's good. He's enough. He's forming me. He's not finished yet.
All He asks for is my faithfulness and obedience. And when I fail, He takes my hand, and we keep going. It would be so much easier for Him to forget about me. He never does though: His grace and love never fails. He never forgets about His children, His daughter here trying with all her heart in Costa Rica.
Thursday was a hard day for me as a missionary. To be honest, we've had a couple of really rough months in the precario. Ladies in our Bible Study gossiping about our group and bad mouthing us. Thursday, the Enemy paralyzing me with so many lies so that I couldn't even teach because of the incredible amount of trash he put in my mind. Struggles with money. Struggles with time. Struggles with clinging to the truth. Struggles to see the face of God and know Him.
What is to be expected?
1 Corinthians 13: 4-13
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man (woman), I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Where does this passage say it's suppose to be easy!? I grasp to this chapter right now. When being faithful and obedient to God gets difficult, will I give up on Him, even though He's never given up on me? The love of the world is easy. It's a love that is selfish. If I don't want to love someone, I don't do it. If it costs to much, I get out. I shut down and leave. But the love of Christ is terribly difficult; but guess what...it's the only thing that will change the world. It is the only thing that will change me. The only thing that will change you. It's not easy at any step, but it's absolutely worth it. It's worthy to give our lives.
