sunny with a high of 75

Hey everybody! It's been a while since I updated, I feel. I've honestly been gone a bit, so I haven't had a moment to blogg..the ministry volunteers and I just got back from a retreat the other weekend to a house near guanacaste, which is owned by one of the volunteers, Luigi. It was a great time to get to know each other and take sometime to enjoy the great weather!!

The weather here has been great lately. It's almost summer so the kids are out of school from December to February, depending on the school. I'm excited to report that people are buying Christmas trees and putting lights up!!! It finally feels like Christmas (a little)...December is NUTS here...Think of Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving...That's how it is everyday here now! It's crazy! Each boss takes out a little every month of an employee's salary so that, in December, everyone gets double the cash!! So, needlesstosay, it's like the end of the world. The traffic is absolutely insane. I personally think coffee should be outlawed for this month so people might CALM DOWN. I was talking with my friend and she told me part of the reason that it's so crazy is because Costa Ricans wait until the last minute to do everything...could be!

The kids in the precario are getting SO EXCITED about the Christmas party this Monday. You have to remember that a lot of them don't really have toys or, if they do, they share their toys with the rest of the kids in the family. What we do for our party is have people buy a present for each child we work with...we'll have food and games, the story of Jesus' birth and everything! As if they needed more energy, I'm positive there will be candy. It works as a good bribe to get them to listen... :)
